That actually sounds like one of the realest reality shows ever, I mean, the contestants were real and they actually owned the cars, the work was actually done, and it doesn't sound like all the dialogue was completely scripted.
The earlier seasons didn't seem so over the top, but the show really took a turn for the worse around season 5, when they changed shops.
